Default Planning to adopt 2 cats

Hello everyone

Im new to this site, Ive always been a cat lover my life.
Had kept cats when i was staying in sgp before but had to give them up when i moved overseas.

Now im back and I would love to adopt a cat, problem is my working hours are long, also there isnt anyone in the house most of the time. As such, it seems it would be best if I got 2 cats so that they will not be lonely.

I seen plenty of adverts for adoptions of brothers and sisters which i think would be great for the kittens. Not sure what male / female combo would be best for the 2 of them.

I would like to ask for some guidance from any fellow cat lovers who keep multiple cats, i used to keep only 1 cat.

I have concerns such as toilet training, how long it would take to train 2 cats, would they have problems sharing the same kitty litter. I read up the articles on the site already and i am unsure if there are anything else missing that would be impt for me to know before getting a cat.

Thanks everyone (:

Daryl

Hihi,

just to share, i have 2 cats (1 male American shorthair, 1 female British shorthair) both ard 8mths old. I bought both at a pet store, coz i love shorthair for their temperament.
I got the boy 1st and introduced the gal later on.

the best thing about keeping cats, is that feline are very independent and they groom themselves, though u need simple grooming occasionally.

I bought the boy 1st,
firstly introduce to his cage( if you have one ) or room. let him have his own space, just feed and make sure clean water is always available. sort of ignore him for a couple of days, but let him noe your existence. i left the kitten litter in the boy's cage, and occasionally carry him onto their litter, naturally he will be toilet trained within 1 day or 2.

1 month later, i brought the gal back, kept the gal in the cage and boy roaming around the house already, soon enough the gal will start roaming around the house but there's lots of hissing initially, she will be back at her cage if she is not feeling comfortable but that's normal, 2 weeks later they shared the same litter, living space, but till now i kept separate feeding bowls.

It took 2 weeks or so for both the cats to live amicably.

if you are bringing 2 cats at the same time, let em have their own individual space, feeding bowl, litter. it really depends how long they will take to share the litter.

hope it helps

Hi YeahYeah,

I have a 6 months old kitten up for adoption. It is toilet train and eat solid food.

It is vaccinated.

It is really my last resort to give him away but I have to.

The story is, this little fellow wonder off into the street one night and when he come back, his mother no longer recognize his smell and start attacking him.

I tried so many methods and it still fails and it breaks my heart to see him so wanted to go back to his brother and sister. Yet all of them does not recognize him.

If you are interested in taking him home, please call me at 90682350.

Hello all, pardon my late reply.

According to the expert, scent can be exchanged by rubbing the cat using a cloth. Do the same to the other cat. Exchange both cloths and do the same again.
